Welcome to the Upstate Community OBGYN Midwifery Center
Our group of Certified Nurse Midwives are trained professionals in both nursing and midwifery. Our Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM) provide care to women of all ages. This includes routine gynecological care and obstetrical care.
Upstate Community OBGYN and Midwifery is proudly affiliated with the Upstate University Hospital Community Campus Family Birth Center.
Gynecology & Well Woman Care
Certified Nurse Midwives not only attend to pregnancy and childbirth, we also offer a full scope of well woman care for women at all stages of life - from adolescence to menopause and beyond. It is a time that can be focused on women’s individual needs with an open educational discussion with your Certified Nurse Midwife.
Well woman care from a CNM includes:
• Annual GYN exams
• Pap smears
• Breast exams
• Menopause care
• Contraception counseling
• General wellness and female health issues
Well woman care is important during every phase of the woman’s life. With an emphasis on education and preventive health care for a woman’s needs, a CNM can empower women to make the best decision about their health care options.
Prenatal Care
Certified Nurse Midwives try to provide comprehensive prenatal care throughout pregnancy in order to enhance a woman’s birth experience. During these important appointments with your CNM, the mother to be will have an opportunity to discuss her personal needs, previous birth experiences, and expectations for the pregnancy.
If you are pregnant schedule an appointment with one of our CNM as soon as possible. Regular prenatal care is important to help ensure that both the mother and baby will need help throughout the pregnancy.
Labor & Delivery
During the process of labor, a Certified Nurse Midwife will look after the mother’s and baby’s health and provide individualized emotional and physical support in a warm and positive environment.
CNM are experts in normal child birth with a focus on the natural progression of labor and delivery. They positively guide mothers throughout childbirth to help women achieve their goals for delivery in the most positive natural pregnancy possible.
